The queer.de Readers Jury 2020

As in the previous year queer.de is again media partner of the TEDDY AWARD and awards the prize of the queer readers. In the selection of the jury for the TEDDY Readers’ Award 2020 we attached particular importance to the fact that it is as diverse as our community. The five-member team consists of (top from left) Robert Moussa, Amanda Halbrock, Detlef Stoffel, (bottom from left) Joyce Newrzella and Fabian Schäfer.

It is Robert Moussa‘s first time as a jury member. The Berlin-based filmmaker is the founder and director of Soura Film Fest, the first queer film festival for the Middle East and North Africa. “My great passion for queer cinema can be a good addition to the jury,” the 33-year-old wrote in his application. “I look forward to meeting like-minded people from the film industry and establishing contacts that could also be useful for the Soura Film Fest”.

34th TEDDY AWARD Ceremony and After Show

On the 28th of February, 2020 we are going to celebrate the 34th TEDDY AWARD and the preparations are in full swing! The venue for the award ceremony and the TEDDY PARTY will be at the Volksbühne Berlin.

Tickets for the 34th TEDDY AWARD ceremony and the after show party are available from now on via the ticket hotline +49 (0)30-240 65-777 or the Volksbühne Webshop. Additionally, tickets are available through Prinz Eisenherz Bookshop (also without booking fee).

For the special support of the Teddy e.V., we offer a limited amount of premium tickets. With the purchase of a premium ticket, you will be guest of honour in the best seating category. Furthermore, you will be invited to an exclusive pre-reception between 07:00 and 08:00 pm on the evening of the ceremony. You can fill in the form for your premium ticket here.

For all our guests who were unable to acquire a ticket for the ceremony we offer a screening lounge ticket, which will allow you to watch the ceremony broadcast from the comforts of Roter Salon and Grüner Salon. Free admission to the after show party is included in the price.

The TEDDY ACTIVIST AWARD – Call for Nominations

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Award Description

In recognition of the life and courage of so many activists that have been struggling and even given their lives for the continued struggle of sexual and gender minorities around the world, the TEDDY AWARD has established the annual TEDDY Activist Award.

Inspired by the work of these activists, the award will recognize the leadership of individuals who strive to uphold the rights of sexual and gender minorities using visual media.

The award seeks to celebrate the courage and resilience of individuals who advocate for change in challenging circumstances and unsupportive policy environments.
Through visual and audio media, they communicate queer themes on a broad social level, contributing to tolerance, acceptance, justice and equality in society. In many parts of the world this means putting yourself and the ones around you in danger, facing rejection, marginalization, isolation and persecution.

The TEDDY Activist Award will be presented annually during the TEDDY AWARD Ceremony. The award will be accompanied by a one-time grant of € 5.000 donated by Harald Christ.

All applications must be submitted to the award coordinator by the deadline: 10 January 2020.

TEDDY TODAY: Friday 15th February

Woohoo! Do you know what special day today is? Well of course you do, it’s Teddy day! This is going to be a history-making event, because the 33rdTeddy award is going to blast you off the roofs! Artists, movies, performances, everything and more during the award ceremony starting at 21.00 at the Volksbühne. You know you’re excited! And it doesn’t end there, the after-show party, of which you’ve surely heard of, is going to start at 23.30 right after the ceremony ends.
