This year, three well-known filmmakers and festival organisers will select the winners in the categories of Best Feature Film and Best Short Film from the nominated queer films from the Berlinale, and will present the TEDDY Jury Award.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8510\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.teddyaward.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Sylvie-Cachin_fotoCredit_\u00a9-Karine-B\u00e9nard-1024x885.jpg\" alt=\"Sylvie Cachin_fotoCredit_\u00a9 Karine B\u00e9nard\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Sylvie Cachin_fotoCredit_\u00a9 Karine B\u00e9nard<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Sylvie Cachin<\/strong>is a film director whose award-winning films enjoyed success at numerous festivals before she joined <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.everybodysperfect.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Everybody\u2019s Perfect \u2013 Geneva International Queer Film Festival (opens in a new tab)\">Everybody\u2019s Perfect \u2013 Geneva International Queer Film Festival<\/a><\/em> as the artistic and general director in 2017. With a university education in art history, history and Italian language and literature (in Switzerland, Rome and Paris) and a master\u2019s degree in film (from Geneva), she has worked in her own company, <em>Lunafilm<\/em>, as a screenwriter, cinematographer, editor and producer. Driven by a sense of exploration and freedom, she is radically committed to auteur cinema and to queer and feminist gazes. Passionate about experiencing and sharing a wide range of artistic moments, her programming aims at offering a new magic every year.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8511\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.teddyaward.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Samuel-Girma-s-708x1024.png\" alt=\"Samuel Girma, curator in film and art\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Samuel Girma, curator in film and art<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Samuel\u00a0Girma<\/strong>\u00a0is a curator in film and art, a community organizer and an activist based in Stockholm. He is currently undertaking research for an upcoming experimental short film about James Baldwin\u2019s queerness and launching a Black cultural space for film and art. Samuel is a co-founder of the anti-racist,\u00a0intersectional\u00a0and feminist platform, Black Queers Sweden. Born and raised in Ethiopia, he emigrated to Sweden at the age of 13, a move that has greatly affected his view on Blackness and the experiences accompanying migration. Much of Samuel\u2019s work, art and writing is inspired by and focuses on\u00a0the experiences of Black bodies.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8513\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.teddyaward.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Esma_Akyel_photo-734x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Esma Akyel, director of Pink Life QueerFest Turkey\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Esma Akyel, director of Pink Life QueerFest Turkey<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Esma Akyel<\/strong>is a LGBTI+ and transfeminist activist from Turkey. They are the director of <a href=\"https:\/\/filmfreeway.com\/PinkLifeQueerFest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pink Life QueerFest (opens in a new tab)\">Pink Life QueerFest<\/a> which was established in 2011 and is the first and only queer film festival in Turkey. The festival is organized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pembehayat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pink Life LGBTI+ Solidarity Association (opens in a new tab)\">Pink Life LGBTI+ Solidarity Association<\/a> which is also the first and biggest trans self-organization group in Turkey. Esma is a board member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgbti-era.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"ERA - LGBTI Equal Rights Association for the Western Balkans and Turkey (opens in a new tab)\">ERA &#8211; LGBTI Equal Rights Association for the Western Balkans and Turkey<\/a>. They are also one of the curators of QueerFest Berlin.
